4 Days In Edinburgh - What to eat/Where to go

In October last year (hello VERY late post!) we took a trip to Edinburgh. I've already spoken about our stay at The Lane Hotel but wanted to share what we actually did there!

CAMERA OBSCURA - World Of Illusions

I didn't want to post too many pictures of this - part of the fun is going and seeing everything for yourself! You get amazing views of Edinburgh from the top of the building, then make your way down each floor of optical illusions and fun stuff.

PRICE: Adult - £15.50 (or if you have student id it's £13.50!)

EDINBURGH CASTLE

Probably the most common place to visit in Edinburgh - the castle! Yes, it is beautiful, has so much history, is HUGE (theres so much of it to see) and the views are pretty amazing...however, I don't think its something I would spend money on again, for me, its one of those "once you've seen it" places, you've seen it, you know? Maybe thats just me! Don't get me wrong, like I said its a beautiful place and it's v cool to learn about everything that happened there, if you're into history you will love it!

PRICE: Adult - £18.50

EDINBURGH ZOO

Again, another predictable tourist choice! Though it was a nice day out, I hadn't been to a zoo since I was like 5 so it was good. We mainly wanted to see the pandas which we eventually managed to see, but only because we went back a few hours later! You have to book in for slots to see them and they might not even come out during your time slot (which is what happened to us!) so if you're going mostly for that reason, just bare that in mind. Not much else to say really, if zoo's are your thing then this ones for you!

PRICE: Adult - £19.50

WHERE TO EAT

Yes, you heard it right, a restaurant that mainly serves MASH. YES. I was so happy when I discovered this place! It was so good, try the roasted crispy potato skins if you go, soooo nice! It was really cosy and pretty central as well, 10/10 would recommendddd!

LA FAVORITA

Of course, we had pizza when we were here (can't go a week without pizza ok thx). We found this amazing takeaway (that is also an actual restaurant in Edinburgh too!) and OMG it was amazing. We got a takeout and ate it in our hotel! Obviously, if you're not staying near the takeaway, try and get yourself to the actual restaurant!

MONTPELIERS

We came here for brunch and it was lovely! They also do lunch and dinner, I can imagine it being a really nice setting at night as well! But our breakfasts were great, & yes we did get pancakes to share as well!

Oh and if you want to make yourself known as a tourist, make sure you get yourself a bottle of irn-bru, does anyone scottish even drink these?! Haha!

I hope you enjoyed this mini guide and it gave you some ideas of where to go if you're planning a trip to Edinburgh soon!

I also made a little vlog of the trip too, you can see a lot more of the places I've talked about here!

A weekend in Dublin - travel diary

So in February, me and 8 lovely ladies took a weekend trip to Dublin! For various birthdays and "why the hell not" - it was so fun. This was my first time in Ireland and it was great! Seeing as though we were only there for a couple of days, there isn't THAT much to tell you - but I'll do my best to let you in on some gems we found! (mostly food related lets be honest).

Okay so can we just take a moment for these donuts please? If you get a chance you HAVE to visit The Rolling Donut, I wish I could've taken the whole shop home with me. I had the red velvet donut and oh my, it was beautiful (not only taste but that PINK COLOUR ugh yes!) so squishy and yummy and beautifully pink inside with cream cheese/icing filling, it was so bloody good (so good I had it twice in 2 days, oops!).

^ best ^

This was one of our first meals when we got there - carbs on carbs on carbs (a personal favourite). The Boxty House, serving traditional Irish potato pancakes! They had other stuff like stews and burgers etc - I went for this "tasting board"?! Basically, a bit of everything. And those chips, ooooh those chips! Amazing.

We went to a few bars/pubs and drank beer and sang along with the live music, it was so much fun! The next day we took a walk through the park and chilled. We also had a cute little breakfast at a pub called O'Neills, it was super cosy! I'd love to go back and spend some more time here, it was a flying visit but a fun one indeed!

I also filmed our time there if you want to have a look/see those donuts in real time. :')

January Musings & Inspo

Oh hey! Ok so its definitely too late to say happy new year but... I hope you've all had a great start to 2018 so far. I wont lie, it feels like its been January for 100 years and I've never longed for a pay day as much as I have this one, but February is in sight and I'm pretty happy about that!

As usual, January made me feel a bit meh (doesn't it for everyone?), the weather in particular, I'm so done with rain and grey skies and just ready for spring/summer now. Especially as this means I can start dressing more for those seasons (summer fashion > winter fashion every time)!

The only things keeping me somewhat inspired through the dreary month of January have been Pinterest and a few lovely bloggers/youtubers that I can't get enough of atm (mostly Megan Ellaby & Sophia & Cinzia).

As you can see, theres a bit of a theme here - loungewear, joggers, tracksuits, comfy clothes, whatever you wanna call them, I'm into it all! Honestly though, I can't stop buying joggers, jumpers and cosy clothes, maybe its the cold weather but I'm just loving wearing them at the moment (scrap the cold weather thing, I'm gonna be wearing these well into summer lets be honest).

I'm also v into anything with stars or moons on at the moment, especially jewellery! I have some beautiful new necklaces and earrings from Accessorize that I am looooving atm, see pic below - Jade is v into them also it would seem :')

So goodbye January and hello Feb, plz be kinder in the weather department to us mancunians, thaaanks!
