In October last year (hello VERY late post!) we took a trip to Edinburgh. I've already spoken about our stay at The Lane Hotel but wanted to share what we actually did there!
CAMERA OBSCURA - World Of Illusions
I didn't want to post too many pictures of this - part of the fun is going and seeing everything for yourself! You get amazing views of Edinburgh from the top of the building, then make your way down each floor of optical illusions and fun stuff.
PRICE: Adult - £15.50 (or if you have student id it's £13.50!)
EDINBURGH CASTLE
Probably the most common place to visit in Edinburgh - the castle! Yes, it is beautiful, has so much history, is HUGE (theres so much of it to see) and the views are pretty amazing...however, I don't think its something I would spend money on again, for me, its one of those "once you've seen it" places, you've seen it, you know? Maybe thats just me! Don't get me wrong, like I said its a beautiful place and it's v cool to learn about everything that happened there, if you're into history you will love it!
PRICE: Adult - £18.50
EDINBURGH ZOO
Again, another predictable tourist choice! Though it was a nice day out, I hadn't been to a zoo since I was like 5 so it was good. We mainly wanted to see the pandas which we eventually managed to see, but only because we went back a few hours later! You have to book in for slots to see them and they might not even come out during your time slot (which is what happened to us!) so if you're going mostly for that reason, just bare that in mind. Not much else to say really, if zoo's are your thing then this ones for you!
PRICE: Adult - £19.50
WHERE TO EAT
Yes, you heard it right, a restaurant that mainly serves MASH. YES. I was so happy when I discovered this place! It was so good, try the roasted crispy potato skins if you go, soooo nice! It was really cosy and pretty central as well, 10/10 would recommendddd!
LA FAVORITA
Of course, we had pizza when we were here (can't go a week without pizza ok thx). We found this amazing takeaway (that is also an actual restaurant in Edinburgh too!) and OMG it was amazing. We got a takeout and ate it in our hotel! Obviously, if you're not staying near the takeaway, try and get yourself to the actual restaurant!
MONTPELIERS
We came here for brunch and it was lovely! They also do lunch and dinner, I can imagine it being a really nice setting at night as well! But our breakfasts were great, & yes we did get pancakes to share as well!
Oh and if you want to make yourself known as a tourist, make sure you get yourself a bottle of irn-bru, does anyone scottish even drink these?! Haha!
I hope you enjoyed this mini guide and it gave you some ideas of where to go if you're planning a trip to Edinburgh soon!
I also made a little vlog of the trip too, you can see a lot more of the places I've talked about here!
