Oh hey! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend gorging on chocolate and everything else (I know I did!). I wanted to do a little inspo post/things I've been loving recently. I'm so excited that we're finally in spring and my holiday to Croatia is slowly but surely creeping up! (1 month to go eeee!). I also took a bit of a different approach adding some little illustrations & type, putting that good old art degree into use eh! (jk) but no, I am actually loving doing this style way more than just typing about it! Hope you like it :)
And heres a few things I've been up to! Trying to channel Jenn Im with little space buns, walks to see the beautiful blossom trees, FOOD obvi, my dads birthday, a trip to Chester, styling at the wonderful Smartworks and pizza from PLY (the best). Oh and binge watching/crying watching 13 Reasons Why on Netflix, if you've not seen it yet, go go go!
New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down - LCD Soundsystem perfectly managing to describe all the feels. Throwing it back to 2014 in NYC, one of my most favourite trips. I've been there twice, and both times I have never wanted to leave. I always thought that when I "grew up" (lol can someone tell me when you actually feel grown up plz?) I was going to live there, optimistic, I know, but I always thought, one day, even if its only for a few months, it will happen. But as I do "grow up" I feel like thats getting further and further away. You realise how much things actually cost and that it's not as easy as just deciding to get up and go!
Its one of those places I'd dreamt of going since forever, of course from seeing it in so many films and tv series etc, when I actually went, it didn't even look real! Just more like a film set, it was very odd. But as soon as I got there, it just felt magical. I know that sounds dead lame and everyone probably says that, but it really did. I genuinely left with a heavy heart, dreaming of the day I could go back. When I did a couple of years later, it was just as amazing as I'd remembered it. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite aware that its not always rainbows and sunshine and going on holiday is v different to actually living there. But I get that, and I'm ok with that!
We kind of split this trip in 2, we did a couple of days staying in Times Square and then the rest of the time in Brooklyn. We stayed in the most amazing aparthotel in Greenpoint called The Box House and oh my god, it was SO GOOD! Sure, staying in a hotel in Times Square is nice but, the rooms are tiny, over priced and once you've seen all the lights and screens in TS, you've seen it, yano? A few days there is more than enough. The Box House had so much character and made you feel like you were in your own little apartment, it was the best. We would usually get a taxi back at night and the view of the Manhattan skyline when you're driving over the bridge was literally the best thing ever.
We spent the week there and saw/did so much - we went to the High Line, Chelsea Market, strolled around Tribeca, had amazing food at the outdoor market Smorgasburg, sat on the steps of the MET (duh, you cannot come to NY and not pretend you're Blair Waldorf), explored Central Park, went out in the Meatpacking district, went to Brooklyn Arts & Fleas, saw Carrie Bradshaws house, shopped in SoHo, had cocktails in Williamsburg, went to Magnolia bakery, took a ferry across to Dumbo, went to Grand Central, ATE GOOD FOOD - the most important right? - and we even managed to be there the same time as F.R.I.E.N.D.S 20th anniversary where they had a pop up Central Perk and you got to see loads of stuff from the set (the Gellar cup, the Science Boy magazine :') and clothes they wore too!) as well as of course, the orange couch.
So for now, no NY trips booked and definitely no plan to move :') but a girl can dream ok?! I've been loving Tar Mar's blog & youtube where I've been getting my NYC fix recently, an irish blogger who moved there in the last year, she's lovely and I've been loving hearing about how she moved and how she's finding it there, as well has her being a mega babe with amazing style.
As it was my best friends birthday on Tuesday, we went to town and did what we do best - eat and drink ofc! We started off in Solita and drank candyfloss cocktails and all the carbs, then for drinks at Turtle Bay for, well, more cocktails (come on happy hour!).
I had the "Big Manc" and it was, well yeah, BIG! You definitely can't pick this up and eat it! I somehow managed to have it all and had a big old food baby the rest of the day #worthit. Oh and note to self * always upgrade to pizza fries, I was v jealous of the girls food :')
It was my first time at Turtle Bay & I have to say, I loved it! Good cocktails and everywhere was so colourful and full of pretty lights, next time I'll have to try the food because that looks amazing too!
We then went on to PLY where I've been wanting to go and eat pizza for ages, however there was no pizza this night, just drinks! It was really chilled in here and I wana go back asap and eat because the pizza is supposed to be AMAZING.
To finish the night we went to the Alchemist for a fancy little drink. It was low lit and cosy on the sofas and the perfect end to a fun day/night, we must have spent a good 9 hours in town!?
All in all, the loveliest day for Jade's 25th, HBD JADEY!
