"New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down"

New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down - LCD Soundsystem perfectly managing to describe all the feels. Throwing it back to 2014 in NYC, one of my most favourite trips. I've been there twice, and both times I have never wanted to leave. I always thought that when I "grew up" (lol can someone tell me when you actually feel grown up plz?) I was going to live there, optimistic, I know, but I always thought, one day, even if its only for a few months, it will happen. But as I do "grow up" I feel like thats getting further and further away. You realise how much things actually cost and that it's not as easy as just deciding to get up and go!

Its one of those places I'd dreamt of going since forever, of course from seeing it in so many films and tv series etc, when I actually went, it didn't even look real! Just more like a film set, it was very odd. But as soon as I got there, it just felt magical. I know that sounds dead lame and everyone probably says that, but it really did. I genuinely left with a heavy heart, dreaming of the day I could go back. When I did a couple of years later, it was just as amazing as I'd remembered it. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite aware that its not always rainbows and sunshine and going on holiday is v different to actually living there. But I get that, and I'm ok with that!

We kind of split this trip in 2, we did a couple of days staying in Times Square and then the rest of the time in Brooklyn. We stayed in the most amazing aparthotel in Greenpoint called The Box House and oh my god, it was SO GOOD! Sure, staying in a hotel in Times Square is nice but, the rooms are tiny, over priced and once you've seen all the lights and screens in TS, you've seen it, yano? A few days there is more than enough. The Box House had so much character and made you feel like you were in your own little apartment, it was the best. We would usually get a taxi back at night and the view of the Manhattan skyline when you're driving over the bridge was literally the best thing ever.

We spent the week there and saw/did so much - we went to the High Line, Chelsea Market, strolled around Tribeca, had amazing food at the outdoor market Smorgasburg, sat on the steps of the MET (duh, you cannot come to NY and not pretend you're Blair Waldorf), explored Central Park, went out in the Meatpacking district, went to Brooklyn Arts & Fleas, saw Carrie Bradshaws house, shopped in SoHo, had cocktails in Williamsburg, went to Magnolia bakery, took a ferry across to Dumbo, went to Grand Central, ATE GOOD FOOD - the most important right? - and we even managed to be there the same time as F.R.I.E.N.D.S 20th anniversary where they had a pop up Central Perk and you got to see loads of stuff from the set (the Gellar cup, the Science Boy magazine :') and clothes they wore too!) as well as of course, the orange couch.

So for now, no NY trips booked and definitely no plan to move :') but a girl can dream ok?! I've been loving Tar Mar's blog & youtube where I've been getting my NYC fix recently, an irish blogger who moved there in the last year, she's lovely and I've been loving hearing about how she moved and how she's finding it there, as well has her being a mega babe with amazing style.

HAPPY BDAY JADE // DAY TO NIGHT IN MANCHESTER

As it was my best friends birthday on Tuesday, we went to town and did what we do best - eat and drink ofc! We started off in Solita and drank candyfloss cocktails and all the carbs, then for drinks at Turtle Bay for, well, more cocktails (come on happy hour!).

I had the "Big Manc" and it was, well yeah, BIG! You definitely can't pick this up and eat it! I somehow managed to have it all and had a big old food baby the rest of the day #worthit. Oh and note to self * always upgrade to pizza fries, I was v jealous of the girls food :')

It was my first time at Turtle Bay & I have to say, I loved it! Good cocktails and everywhere was so colourful and full of pretty lights, next time I'll have to try the food because that looks amazing too!

We then went on to PLY where I've been wanting to go and eat pizza for ages, however there was no pizza this night, just drinks! It was really chilled in here and I wana go back asap and eat because the pizza is supposed to be AMAZING.

To finish the night we went to the Alchemist for a fancy little drink. It was low lit and cosy on the sofas and the perfect end to a fun day/night, we must have spent a good 9 hours in town!?

All in all, the loveliest day for Jade's 25th, HBD JADEY!

Update & January Inspo!

So, we're half way through January, how'd that happen?! This month has gone surprisingly quick & has been pretty good so far, which is rare for a January as everyone is usually skint and exhausted from the Christmas period. ANYWAY! I've been spending the month mostly learning how to drive, learning & passing my Theory (YAY!), doing some Illustration work in the hopes of setting a little card shop up, and apart from all that, seeing friends and eating, my fave past time. I've also been on Pinterest a lot recently and thought I'd share the things that have inspired me most - lots of fashion related goodness.

Looking at all these has made me want to change up my wardrobe and get clothes I actually WANT to wear! I know we're all guilty of having that "I've got no clothes!" drama before a night out (or at any time really) though in fact, we have a lot of them. And its true, I have quite a lot to be going on with but do I want to wear them?! Nope! And so I want to change this, be ruthless and get rid of the stuff I've not worn in a long time and will not ever wear, they will be going on my depop and to charity.

I feel like I finally know what I like to wear and I want my wardrobe to reflect that. Comfort. Being comfortable, thats the most important to me. It doesn't mean I want to rock joggers and a baggy t-shirt 24/7 (well, maybe) but I feel most confident in an outfit when I feel comfortable, and thats how I want to feel all the time. I want trainers not boots, I want soft fabrics, hoodies that are oversized but still have structure (like this Zara one I have been LIVING in for the past month, in black http://www.zara.com/uk/en/sale/woman/starting-from-60-off/short-oversized-sweatshirt-c744533p4116507.html).  I want to be casual but somewhat put together, I love effortless style. Dressing more casually but dressing it up with good makeup and accessories.

I hope you've all had a great start to the year!
Til next time X

GOODBYE 2016

With 2017 right around the corner, its only fitting I take a look back on 2016. As much as this year has been awful for so many reasons (as I'm sure you'll all agree), there have been a lot of amazing memories made. Instead of focusing on all the shitty things that have gone on in the world this year, I wanted to take some time to think of all the great things that did happen. I was so lucky to be able to visit some beautiful places with the people I love - Barcelona, Greece, day trips to Liverpool and weekends away. There were many nights out, my sister turned 30, I celebrated 2 years with my bf & went on our first holiday together, I went to the first-of-my-friends-to-get-married wedding and ofc my first hen do! I made new amazing friends, had a lovely Christmas at home & so much more. This year has gone quicker than any year and that kind of scares me! Time really is going by so quickly and with everything going on in the world, its so important to treasure every moment and realise just how lucky we are, even when things don't feel like they're going right. Okay, soppiness over! Have a Happy New Year! X

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Heyooo! I've been some what absent on here for a month or so, mostly because of Christmas but quite honestly, I've been feeling really unmotivated (and not because I've been consuming too many roast potatoes, although probably that as well). Feeling un inspired is crappy and I've been feeling it for quite a while now. I don't wanna do the whole "new year new me" bs, but it really is something I want/need to work on in 2017! To stop thinking so much and just do. I have an art degree I have done virtually nothing with. I have skills I could be utilising but just don't! I want to do more things on here and stick to a schedule. I want to film more, draw more, create more, I've been lacking in confidence for so long and its about time I stop being so hard on myself and just get on with it. So here is to a some what "new me" *cringes* in the next year.

I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas! As mentioned, I definitely ate too many roasties and spent the majority of the festive period in my pj's eating party food - it's been great.

Have a very Happy New Year & see you in 2017!
